Jayke's New Best Friend
I feel bad for my child. Bad because he is a little afraid of our cat. Bad because he has gone the entire past year and a half without really having a cat with the move and the cats being housed in the basement now. Bad because we had to tell him how to act around the cat and how the cat would act around him when he should have just known since his mother is such a cat person and I never thought I would be without a cat to curl up with at night. After living for a while without a cat though I can't bring myself to go back to cat hair, smelly litter in the house, and hair balls so the cats will have to remain in the basement and backyard for now. I brought Jesse up tonight though so he could roam around, get some attention, and Jaykeb could play with him. At first Jaykeb was afraid of him and would jerk back every time Jesse put his nose toward him or meowed at him. The cat was not afraid of this shrill little person at all though. They soon were best friends and I've never seen Jaykeb as excited as he was to have Jesse in the house to play with him. He had to gather every toy, shoe, book, and cup of chocolate milk in the vicinity to show him. Jesse actually looked interested as the whirlwind of objects were presented for his inspection. Pretty soon he was over on the kitchen floor on his back watching Jaykeb mold snakes out of green playdough for him. I came into the computer room to put some pictures on the blog and I could hear the conversation continuing throughout the house, "That is Mommy's don't touch that, it's breakable. That is the laundry room, Jesse. That is the trash." as if the cat had never seen anything but the basement floor his entire life. Still, it was cute how excited The Boy was and how much the cat, who has never been around a small child, took to Jaykeb immediately. So, now I feel bad for both of them for keeping them from each other all this time. I haven't decided to let the cat remain upstairs full time but I am going to bring him in more often to play with Jaykeb...I don't think I will have a choice anymore.
I wanna scream!

Why can't people be on time? I don't think anything bothers me more than people who are late(Angi this is not directed at you)! It annoys me that I have to be present for my annual termite bond (whatever the hell that is)in the first place and now they are 30 minutes late. Don't these people appreciate that you might have somewhere to go? That you don't spend your life sitting and waiting for them to make there merry way to your door? And don't get me started with the cable company and the likes who give you a friggin 4 hour window that you have to sit and wait for them! It's just irritating! So the guy has 10 minutes to show then I'm outta here and they can reschedule. End rant here.

Little Smarty Pants

Had another cute conversation with The Boy the other day.
Me: "Jaykeb I can't even get to your dresser to put your clothes away."
Jaykeb: "Then don't put them away."
Me: "I want you to move some of this stuff so I can get to your dresser. This room is a disaster and I want it cleaned up."
Jaykeb: "Well, it's MY room and I like it like this!"
Holy crap I'm raising me! To make it even more special that my "3 year-old" is saying things to me that he shouldn't be saying until at least age 10 , my mom was on the phone to hear the entire thing. Made her day of course. I knew it would since I can clearly remember having the same conversation with her about my own messy room many times as a kid. She didn't say much...just laughed like a hyena.
My oh-so-adorable "3 year-old" has also started rolling his eyes in disgust at me and groaning loudly when I tell him to go do something. What is he thinking? He is only 3...and still 5 days away from that officially! He shouldn't be giving me so much attitude at this age. Mom says how could he not be like that with Mike and me as parents. Oh yeah, we did the Brain Quest game for his age group today and he flew through them and acted like I was an idiot for asking him such questions that were clearly below his intelligence level. Duh Mom, come on!

Monkey...uh..butt powder??

This is a sign in Florida. The description for the powder goes like this
Ideal for butt busting activities such as truck driving, motorcycling, bicycling, horse back riding, and extreme sports. May also be applied inside footwear, under sports pads, and other areas prone to chafing. Indoors or outdoors, work or play, or on occasions when you sit on your butt all day, don’t let your buns get red, use Anti Monkey Butt Powder instead!
I may have to get some for my "monkey's" butt since he won't give up the diapers!

Great News...for me at least!

Allegiant Air adding flights to Tampa Bay area
Three weekly flights going to St. Petersburg-Clearwater airport
Two months after it began service to the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, low-fare carrier Allegiant Air announced a second non-stop Florida destination -- the Tampa Bay area.
The Las Vegas-based airline, which now flies to the Orlando area, said it was adding three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. The flights will arrive at GSP at 2:50 p.m. and leave the airport at 3:25 p.m.
Allegiant Air plans to begin the new service on Feb. 13. Introductory fares of $39 for a one-way trip can be purchased through Feb. 10 and used through June 10, said Eric Woodson, director of marketing and sales for Allegiant.
Normal fares will begin at $59 for a one-way ticket, he said.

A Comment for My Sister
Sssshhhhh...

....don't tell Mike I put this picture on here. He told me not to. I just wish I could have gotten one with the entire santa hat in view...it had a big coil that bounced up and down on top of it. He knew he was blog material in the making with that thing on and wouldn't let me get a good shot of it. Darn him!
A Cat's Revenge

This cracked me up because I can so see this happening at my dad's house with the way his cats have been terrorizing the poor chihuahuas. It also reminded me of the time my friends and I put slime on top of the fan blades and turned that sucker on high. Thank GOD we weren't at my MOM's house when we decided to try this stunt. I probably wouldn't be here to write about it if we had. I'm sure you can imagine what that house looked like after the fan hit full speed. My friend whose house we did this at had a shetland and we spent the next hour picking slime out of that poor thing's massive coat. Great times!

"A child is a curly, dimpled lunatic." - Ralph Waldo Emerson....so mine isn't curly or dimpled but the lunatic part sure fits. See for yourselves...

These are the faces he made when I asked him to make me some funny faces. The first one is just his silly face, the second one was his sad face, and the third was his mad face. Goofball.

"Come on Simee"

I think they are discussing whether Simon is going to join Jayke in his bedroom for some Goodnight Show viewing and car driving. That is his new thing...drag the poor dog by his collar to his bedroom and slam the door shut so he can't get away. They will play in there for hours. I'm sure Simon is just sitting by the door waiting to be sprung from his toy-riddled prison and Jaykeb is lining up cars making parking lots. Eventually Simon will come streaking into whatever room I'm in and hide behind the nearest chair for protection. Jaykeb soon follows and wants to know where he went. I think the boy needs a puppy who can grow up with him and will play with him as Simon and Laynie are both almost 8 years old so they don't play much anymore unless I bust out the laser pen light and then they go nutso chaising it around the house like cats. They can't do it as long as they used to though. The other night I thought poor Laynie was going to have a heart attack after chasing that little light around for about 20 minutes. Laser light tag will have to be played sparingly from now on to avoid one of the geezer dogs dropping over dead.
