Something Pink

Today for SPF we were to photograph something small and pink. Hhhhmmm. I couldn't find anything small and pink which is surprising considering how into pink I was a couple of years ago. I finally decided on this.

My video Ipod with it's pink sleeve on. I got the protective sleeve/sticker last year in Vegas. It is a decal or sticker that is the same thing they use on cars so it peels of easily and can be change. I won't be changing it much though because at Thirty bucks a pop I can't afford to.
Didya play? If so let me and Kristine know.

Framed!

It is Friday! Time for SPF! This week the word was frame. This one was easy for me because I have several things I could use. I decided to go with a couple of things I "framed" myself. The first one was a gift for my husband 2 years ago on Christmas. While cleaning out the garage, cabinets, drawers, etc to get ready to move I came across all his stuff from when he was in the Army. I thought it should be displayed proudly rather than tucked away in a box or drawer so I made this for him.

I also made one for my son displaying some of his things from when he was a tiny baby. I have to keep an eye on this one to make sure it is still on the wall after my mom visits. She has talked about stealing it many times. I think it will be a great thing to give to him someday when he is expecting his first child. Sorry about the glare...you know I am a lousy photographer!

I have another framed item on the wall I have to make sure doesn't disappear when grandparents visit. It is also my favorite picture from when Jayke was a baby. I love the way it was matted and framed and I love the pictures! The first one is a close up of his face, the second is of his tiny hand holding my finger, and the third is of my hand holding his tiny feet. Adorable!

Now I also have to show another frame that I love simply because The Boy made it for me at school.

So there ya go. Framed and frames. Didya play? If so let me and Kristineknow so we can check out your frames!

Mother's Day, Mom's Club, Mommy and Me!

It's Friday! That means SPF time! Kristinewants us to show her a handful of something.

There ya go. A handful (or at least all I have left)of my "Happy Pills"! Better go get more tomorrow...no one wants me to run out!

Mother's Day came early this year! I must be one good mutha too! I was involved in the decision making somewhat but the fact that I was getting this particular gift was a total shock to me. I was surprised just last week by hubs when he took me to look at my gift and then made all arrangements and took care of all the details, something I would normally do most of. Very exciting! I usually tell him not to make a big deal. So have I drug this out long enough? Yeah? Okay, here is what I got...

Sorry I couldn't find a bigger picture and I have yet to take any. I got the white one. It is one of the cars Mike's company makes tanks for. A Hyundai Santa Fe. Very nice. I had never really considered them all that much but when we went and looked at the new style I liked them and after driving it, I love it! Jayke was excited to get a new car but sad to see the old Durango go. I was a little sad too. Tomorrow I have to take it in to have the DVD system installed then we are all set. I guess the pressure is on now for Father's Day! Thank you, Mike!

As I mentioned, I had to take The Boy to my mammogram appointment with me yesterday. I was NOT looking forward to this. First of all it is an x-ray so I was worried about him going in the room with me. Second of all, I just knew he would have something to say that I was sure I wouldn't want to hear. You know how kids are...always saying things at inappropriate times or places because they don't know any better. Yeah, mine is pretty good at it.
He was perfect in the waiting room, sitting patiently. Probably because he knew it was my appointment and not his. Then we had to go back to the tiny little dressing rooms where I had to take off my shirt. Here is the conversation from that point.
The following all said in extremely loud kid voice. I take off the shirt...
Jayke: Why are you taking your shirt off?!?
Me: So I can have my doctor appointment.
Jayke: Are you going to take THAT off too? (Bra, for those too slow to follow...)
Me: Yes, I'm taking this off too.
Jayke: THAT'S THE WAY I LIKE IT!
Oh. My. Gah!
My son did not just say that. He especially did not just say that in his very loud bow-chicka-bow-bow voice! Where did he learn that?!? Then I put on the ever so lovely blue paper vest that has two buttons in the front that don't do a whole lot to keep the thing closed.
Jayke: Why are you putting that on?
Me: Because the lady told me to.
Jayke: I like that thing:
Me: You do?
Jayke: Yeah, you should wear that home. Daddy would LIKE that thing.
I am now all set and prepare myself to open the paper thin little door that has been seperating my tiny commentator and me from any other women who were waiting to be led to the exam rooms. Sure enough we open the door and a lady is directly across from me cracking up. I just nod my head and smile. Then my child runs across the hall into the woman's dressing room and yells hello at her. Great. Lucky for all of us it was soon my turn and we were lead away from our audience.
I thought for sure the next part would be the part he talked about but the tech had him sit behind her booth while she positioned me and took my films so he really couldn't see what was going on. I am still preparing myself for him to randomly tell some stranger that mommy had her boobs squished in a big machine though. I know he is saving it for a really good time to pop that on some poor unsuspecting passerby.

We had Mom's club today. Playgroup at Kid Venture park. My favorite moms were there today so it was fun. Jayke got all hot and sweaty playing with Luke, Katie, and Ainsley. All three year olds, so it works out well. Luke and Katie will be at his school he will start in the fall too. That will be nice for him to have familiar faces there.

After Mom's club we picked up lunch and took it to one of the parks along the lake. No eating in the new car. It has a light interior color so I am going to have to be more careful and remind Jayke to be too.

After Mom's club, a picnic in the park, and a little shopping we headed home. It was hot and we were hot and tired. We had things to do outside too so we had a very busy day and it isn't over yet. Also when we got home we had a box on the porch from Gramma Rain and Grandpa Dave. A little gift for The Boy learning to use the potty. In the box was also a bag of onions for Mike which caused me crack up. His mom must have read how the Earth comes to a hault if I cook hamburgers and don't have any onions. Thanks guys, I think you may need to send Tresa some trash bags for her kitchen, apparently the Earth comes to a hault up there if there isn't one in the can. Men, they may come in different sizes, shapes, and colors but inside, they are all the same!

Not Very Good at Following Instructions

Today is the TWO year anniversary of SPF! I found out how it all got started over on Kristine's site...you can go there, check out her fridge and read how SPF was born. Now on to the assignment.

Today in honor of the very first SPF Kristine told us to take a picture of our fridge...Cribs style(that is a show on MTV where celebrities show off their houses and always show what is in the fridge, for the unhip family...er uh, people who are reading this). I almost didn't play when I learned that I had to post a picture of my fridge because it is usually in a state of disarray. I went and peeked in to see how terrible it was and it wasn't too bad so I figured I would go ahead and grab the camera.
I took my pictures then went and reread the assignment...oops, apparently I was supposed to be in the picture too. I could have gone back and taken a new picture but I thought you may not want to see me in hot pink and green jammies, no makeup, and hair a mess. Plus if I was in the picture you wouldn't be able to see the fridge items, not that you really care, but that was my thinking. I was supposed to throw up the number two for the camera which I did. That would be why my very bright hand is in the picture...note to self, turn off flash when taking picture of fridge.

If you played let me and Kristine know so we can come see what is in yo fridge!

Knobs...

It's Friday! That means it is SPF time. Today Kristine gave us an assignment which I thought would be quite easy. Knobs. How hard could that be right? Well when I grabbed the camera and started around the house to locate all my knobs, I found out it was going to be a little trickier than I thought. Nothing has knobs on it anymore. Everything comes with nice little buttons on it. I started looking at my furniture and it all has the same knobs...how boring for my SPF. The bathroom cabinet knobs are the same as the furniture. All of them are the same as the door knobs, brushed knickel knobs.

Pretty boring and not even a very good picture. But then I went into the guest bedroom and saw this sitting on a shelf...

At least this knob is a little more interesting even if it has no purpose other than decorating a shelf in the guestroom. I think we are going to see a lot of pictures of door knobs today unless some one gets brave and shows us their knobby knees or some other "knobs" on their person. My money is on Kami!
If you played let me and Kristine know so we can come check out your knobs! snicker

My Stuff

Today Kristinewanted us to show her our "stuff". Not that kind of stuff, what's the matter with you? Our stuff that makes us who we are or at least tells you who we are. Okay, this could take all day for me. I have a lot of stuff! Next week I'm going to request an assignment that requires us putting stuff away instead of dragging more out. Here is some of my stuff...

Now for an explanation of my stuff. First of all there is Diet Coke, the only thing I drink. My calendar(the little blue book). My cell phone and my house phone because I can't live without them. My ipod all dressed up in it's pink ensemble. My favorite lotion, Burt's Bees. My Bare Minerals make up and my Philosophy Mimosa bath gel which is my new favorite and cheers me up every time I use it. There is a pile of scrapbook supplies on the right and of course a pair of BLACK flip flops. I only wear black ones anymore. The red purse in the back is my brand new Liz purse I just got last weekend and am currently loving. It's not Coach like Kami's but I still love it! My Hello Kitty coin purse. I have tons of them...I love the Kitty! The black thing in the back ground is my new wall grill I got at Pier 1 last weekend. It was on sale and marked way down so I was super excited about that. My mom got one too. This is there to represent two things, my passion for decorating and my love of shopping. Something else not pictured you are looking at right now, my blog. Tells you exactly who I am, almost.
Now, the things I forgot to put in the picture. My magazines and catalogs. I get tons and read them all. My bare minerals lip balm and my lip smackers lip gloss, gotta have them. One of my lists because like my dad, I make lists of everything all the time. I didn't have any gummy bears to put in the picture which are my favorite candy along with Reese cups. I could go on and on but I won't.
One more thing though before I go. A little more "stuff" that tells who I am and the most important thing of all...

I am this boy's mom.

Look Again!

Today's SPF assignment is "Holy". At first I thought I wouldn't play because I was gone all day and didn't even find out what it was until 11p.m. tonight, but then I was looking through the pictures I took today and I found one I could use. When you see the picture you may say something like, "Holy crap, how is that thing still alive?" or "Holy crap, that doesn't even look real!". Believe me folks it is and it is living. I know because that is my shorty standing in front of it.

The exposed roots of an enormous tree in Falls Park along the Reedy River. Here is another shot where you can see the tree coming out of the ground above.

So, I was very excited when I realized I could use these pictures for today's SPF! It's not often I find something really fascinating to take a picture of...other than my child of course. Didya play? Didya, didya? Let me and Kristine know if you did!

Baby Got Back

This week's SPF assignment was "behind". I really wanted to put a picture of my mountain of laundry on here to show you how far "behind" I am but I got it all finished today and forgot to take the picture first. I certainly couldn't put a picture of my "behind" on here...it wouldn't fit on your screen so I give you a little behind. A tiny tush. A baby ba-donka-donk whatever...

Funny think about this picture is we have one of my dad in the exact same pose. I can't remember why he was doing this but someone was quick with the camera and got the picture.

Didya play? Let me and Kristine know if you did. Happy SPF!

My Babies Blues

This weeks assignment is "two". I'm making it simple this week. Two of the most beautiful things in the world...

Two beautiful eyes of my sweet child's. I know you can't tell from the picture but his eyes are blue like mine. Big and expressive and when he rolls them at you you know you've said something ridiculous. He perfected the eye rolling at a very young age. His eyes tell me everything I need to know without him having to speak a word. They tell me when he is sick and when he is tired. When he is happy and when he is mad. They were the first thing I saw when he was born, the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen.
I've posted the picture these eyes came from before but I'm going to share it again as it is one of my favorites of him.

....and the original before editing...

Oh yes his shirt does say Heartbreaker!

If you played let me and Kristine know.

Flying H

This week for SPF Kristine at Random and Odd asked us to show her our "letters". This could mean many things. I'm afraid I wasn't very creative this week. I fully intended on taking pictures today and coming up with something interesting but I got all caught up in whether or not my friends will be coming to visit for spring break and forgot all about this until around midnight. So in a rush to get my post up before I head off to bed I give you my letters...

Two letters on the wall in the living room. One from Ballard Design the other from Target. The first letter of our last name. I do have a little story about the letters though too. Last time my parents were here visiting my dad was sitting on the couch right below these two letters. I was going up and down the basement stairs putting things away and bringing other things up. One of my trips I slammed the basement door trying to avoid having the dog slip by into the basement which is not that clean since it is unfinished. Right as the door closed I heard a ringing noise that sounded like a tuning fork being struck. I looked into the living room to see my dad holding his head. The little silver H fell off the shelf when I slammed the door and hit him square on the top of his head causing the noise. Now I know this really had to hurt but the sound it made caused me to launch into a fit of hysterical laughter. That and the look on his face. I felt really bad about it and even worse that I found it so funny. Now I warn people who sit there to watch out for the H. I could take it down but that would mess up my grouping on the wall and you know I'm not about to mess up my decorating!

So, did ya play?

Show us your Bags!

Kristine at Random and Oddwants us to show her our luggage this week. It just so happened that I already had a picture of my luggage on my computer from when we went to Mexico so that is the one I'm using because I don't want to have to go dig out any other luggage to photograph. Sure I could put a picture of The Boy's super cute automobile themed luggage and matching backpack on here but that would take work. I could even dig out our complete set of matching suitcases we got right after we got married(ha, I don't know where we thought we were going)but that also would take a lot of work. I have numerous carry on bags, backpacks, and diaper bags I could have taken pictures of but they are burried in my closet some where. Then I started thinking of it in terms of "baggage". The only baggage we have is our debt. I considered taking a picture of a stack of bills but since they are scattered all over the place, tucked away in file folders, and tacked up on bullentin boards I decided to just go with the old picture of my bags I took to Mexico. 1 suitcase with a big frog name tag on it so it is easy to identify and one carry-on that totally doesn't match but I don't care.

So did ya play?

SPF-Leftovers

My leftovers are actually my husbands leftovers. Two half full beer cans from two days of coming home from work and falling asleep in the chair before he can finish them. You would think he would just stop trying to drink them but he doesn't...I empty one everyday.

I know, boring SPF but this was kind of a hard one for me without getting really graphic. I will do better next week, I promise!

Roses are Red...

Kristine wants us to post a picture of something red for our SPF today. This is actually a Christmas wreath but I left it out for Valentine's Day this year. I love my table top wreath holder but this and a halloween wreath are the only thing I have to hang on it so I thought I would recycle the Christmas as Valentine's.

....and just for good measure I am throwing in a picture of The Boy on his RED four wheeler.

Spf Buttons

SPF--Buttons...today's assignment.

The most important buttons in my life! The phone...how I keep in touch with my family and friends I moved 600 miles away from last year. This one apparently needs charged though.

Buttons on my mouse...extremely important since I discovered blogging! Even before the blog I spent a bunch of time on the computer emailing, surfing, and surveying!

Buttons I push every day...the remote control. Both for the TV and the DVR which I have decided is one of the best inventions EVER! I can record all the shows I want to watch and watch them after Jayke goes to bed so there are no interuptions and I can give him the attention he needs before bed. I can also watch programs without commercials so it doesn't take as long.

My family would surely starve to death without these buttons. The microwave buttons which I push every day to make our meals.

Buttons I have to use every night before bed. The buttons on the fridge door to get Jayke his "cold water with ice in it!" Yes, he calls it that every time he asks for water.

Buttons I should use more often...treadmill.

Broken Buttons...my washing machine, but the guy comes Tuesday to look at it. It will probably take weeks to order the part he needs though.

Stuff Portrait Friday

I'm a little late with this...sorry.

Our assignment for Stuff Portrait Friday is "Our Buddy" so here is my buddy...

Today my buddy and I went shopping at Target, grabbed lunch, and stopped at the bank. Nothing too exciting. We had to get out of the house so Mike could sleep since he went in to work at midnight last night to fix whatever problem they were having that caused them to call every 15 minutes waking him up. So much for the promotion helping cut back on hours!

SPF

The Rules:

On Monday or Tuesday I will post 3 items. Sometimes I have a theme. On Friday you post your pictures of the three things listed.
Come back and let me know you played by posting a comment on my blog. Everyone that plays will come and visit (or at least I hope they do)

This game is for everyone. Encourage your players to play and comment on your blog if they played so you can get to know your readers. If you want to send them overhere to let me know they played, Great!

The assignment:
1. A houseplant (or something of similar intelligence)
2. Something you secretly enjoy but bitch about anyway
3. Something gross...the grosser the better, I say...

1. Houseplant: Here is my wonky looking poinsettia left over from Christmas. It is the only live houseplant I have.

2. Something I Bitch about but secretely like: My husband...okay maybe it is only a secret to him that I like him but I know this qualifies because I bitch about him all the time!

3. Something Gross: The Boy gave me the perfect entry for this one last night when he came into the living room to tell me he and Laynie(our dog) had been licking the spilled water up off the kitchen floor. Now that is gross especially if you have seen the kitchen floor lately!
